Something to think about when you “sponsor” an event….

The word “sponsor” comes from the latin “spondere” or to “promise solemnly.”  Somehow I don’t think this translates to the “sponsored” organization being subject to renaming their event with your ridiculous company name or furthermore bastardizing their promotional materials with your disproportionately large logo. Maybe and just maybe it DOES mean that you (the wealthy corporation that can easily afford your OWN advertising) support the event because you believe in THEIR cause and/or purpose and NOT just to prop up your own overstuffed ego… hmmm… What a concept! Doing good for the sake of doing good!
